We are a fourth-generation cattle operation out here on the Prairies of Manitoba in the heart of the Interlake! Our herd started out with a Simmental/Limousine influence and over the years, my father started to change directions with the herd and we now primarily run Red and Black Angus!
April and I have been married and together going on 15 years, but we weren’t always in the agriculture business. We met 16 years ago, working a government job in the medical field. Life took new directions, brought us to new places and we got married. We decided to start a family and we both knew where we wanted that family to be raised! I took a chance, left my government job and we moved back to the family ranch! I grew up on this land, I was raised with this life and although April grew up in the city, she has roots on the farm and to this day you would never know that this wasn’t where she always lived.
So today, Myself and April along with our kiddos; “Little Cowboy Hoyt” and “Baby Wynne” now have taken over the reins and run Prairie Sunset Ranch! My father still is here, he gives us a hand, along with his wisdom and advice, and you can see my mom and other family members from time to time here too pitching in! Farming is truly a family affair!
